The next premium live event in the world of WWE is Backlash, which goes down on May 6 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The post-WrestleMania event is always a doozy, including this year with a stacked card. We’re going to show you the WWE Backlash betting picks most likely to get you paid!
Bad Bunny & Rey Mysterio vs. Dominik Mysterio & Damian Priest Betting Pick
This match is not confirmed yet, but all indications are that it’s happening. Of course, Bad Bunny is from the island and he’s confirmed to be the guest host of the show. However, the storyline has escalated to feature Bunny, Priest, and the two Mysterios. In a match, the Bad Bunny-Rey Mysterio pairing would be favored to win, per the top entertained-bases betting sites:
Of course, this is not Bunny’s first foray into the WWE. He famously competed at WrestleMania 37 in a tag team match alongside Priest, a fellow Puerto Rican. But the tables have turned in the two years since, cumulating with Priest choke-slamming Bunny through a table the night after WrestleMania. This was in retaliation to Bunny getting involved with the Mysterios WrestleMania clash the night before.
Look, we would be absolutely shocked if Bunny and Rey aren’t victorious. There are very few things the WWE loves more than positive publicity from mainstream culture. Bunny — being one of the most famous musicians in the world right now — will get them that buzz they so desperately seek. That buzz will be better if they showcase Bunny and give him a “moment” that’s worth sharing on social media. A moment like getting a pinfall victory, for instance.
We would vouch for a pretty massive bet on Rey and Bunny to cash this out. That’s the best way to maximize a -220 betting line. That, or you could create a parlay with the next bet that follows too. Allow us to explain below:
Brock Lesnar vs. Cody Rhodes Betting Pick
This match will likely main event Backlash, and for good reason — these two have never faced off in the ring. Being as both are two of the biggest name brands in the whole industry, it’s a good pairing. Oddsmakers have given Rhodes a strong -250 betting line to win at Backlash:
This match was also put in motion the night after WrestleMania — when Rhodes failed to “finish the story” and beat Roman Reigns. Rhodes and Lesnar were scheduled to tag team together against Reigns and Bloodline member Solo Sikoa, but Lesnar attacked instead. He delivered F-5 after F-5 to the “American Nightmare.”
Here again, Rhodes winning makes the most sense. He has a real shot at becoming a major player in the WWE, but needs booking help to get him there. Losing to Reigns wasn’t in the cards, but a defeat to part-time Lesnar would surely stall his momentum. We don’t see it happening. Rhodes re-chasing the WWE title — the championship that’s forever eluded the Rhodes family legacy — is the long-term storyline to book and it requires a win over Lesnar.
We feel really strongly about parlaying Bunny-Mysterio and Rhodes together. Odds over -200 aren’t the most value-rich by themselves but putting them together in a parlay at least helps. Both bets should cash come Badklash!
The Bloodline vs. Matt Riddle, Kevin Owens, and Sami Zayn Betting Pick
The escalation of this Bloodline vs. Owens-Zayn feud now includes Riddle which makes this an intriguing six-man tag match. Intriguing because the betting odds in this bout are near-even. However, Riddle, Owens, and Zayn are marginal betting DAO favorites at the moment:
Wrestlers | |||
---|---|---|---|
Matt Riddle | Kevin Owens | and Sami Zayn | -155 |
The Bloodline | +115 | +115 | +115 |
The big-picture storyline in this one is a possible rift within the Bloodline. There’s been tension inside the faction since the Usos lost the tag team titles to Owens and Zayn at WrestleMania. Reigns is beginning to run out of patience for the two, and Heyman is not-so-discreetly letting them know about it. To us, the only way to escalate this internal drama is by losing this matchup, which will drive Reigns over the edge per se.
Our money is on Riddle, Owens, and Zayn for that reason. Reigns has beaten the entire roster already. The only feud he has left is with his own family, which we anticipate is what happens next.
