Luke Littler (+350)

It’s no surprise the 17-year-old is the +350 favorite to win in Leicester.

With an impressive eight titles already this season—more than anyone else on the PDC Tour—Littler has demonstrated pinpoint accuracy on doubles in 2024, so the double-start format shouldn’t pose a problem for "The Nuke."

His first match is against Rob Cross, a player he has beaten in seven of their last eight encounters. Cross has also struggled at the World Grand Prix, never advancing past the second round in seven attempts.

As expected, Littler will likely need to overcome a challenging quarterfinal matchup against reigning champion Luke Humphries to make a deep run in Leicester.

Luke Humphries (+400)

Luke Humphries was in unstoppable form on his way to the 2023 title, dropping just four sets and showcasing his dominance on the oche during what became a career-defining run for "Cool Hand."

However, his summer has been inconsistent, and he’ll need to be back at his peak to navigate a tricky first-round matchup against Stephen Bunting. "The Bullet," a two-time World Grand Prix semifinalist and the 2024 Masters champion, is always a dangerous opponent in the early rounds.

That said, when Humphries is at his best, he remains a tough challenge for anyone on the tour. At +400, the world number one is a solid bet to defend his title in Leicester.

Michael Van Gerwen (+550)

In recent years, illness, injury, and inconsistent form have made Michael van Gerwen, known as the "Green Machine," appear more vulnerable than he once did. It's now been four consecutive TV ranking final defeats since the Dutchman last claimed a major trophy back in 2022.

Despite this, his record at the World Grand Prix is outstanding, with six titles to his name. Being in the bottom half of the draw could boost MVG's confidence as he aims to make it a seventh title in 2024.

Van Gerwen’s struggles typically begin with his doubles, and if he gets off to a slow start in the early rounds—especially with the best-of-three format—he could face a tough path. In his opening match, MVG takes on former champion Daryl Gurney, whom he has beaten 10 times in their last 15 encounters.

World Grand Prix Darts Betting Pick

Michael van Gerwen has an easier route to the final than the other two stand out competitors. His odds of  +550 are enticing for a player with his skill and experience. If he's close to his best, he has a very strong chance of winning this tournament.

2024 World Grand Prix Darts Format

A total of 32 players will compete for World Grand Prix glory, featuring the top 16 from the PDC's Order of Merit alongside the top 16 unqualified players from the ProTour Order of Merit.

In 2024, five players will be making their debuts at the event, including Luke Littler, who will be looking to add to his already impressive collection of titles this season.
