2024 T20 World Cup cricket betting picks

The 2024 T20 World Cup starts on Saturday. England are the defending champions. But they will have plenty of competition from India and Australia, the other two members of the big three. Who will come out on top? We tell you the answer in our latest cricket betting picks.

  • What: 2024 T20 World Cup
  • Who: 20 Nations
  • Where: West Indies vs. USA
  • When: June 1st - June 29th, 2024
  • Defending Champions: England

Jointly hosted in the West Indies and the USA, the 2024 T20 World Cup is the ninth edition of the competition.

It will be the first time the United States has hosted an ICC event, and it is also going to be the largest-ever T20 World Cup with 20 nations taking part, an increase of four from the 16 that contested the 2022 competition.

The format sees the 20 teams broken up into four groups of five teams. Each nation will play each other in a round-robin format, with the top two teams from each group progressing to the Super Eights.

In the Super Eights, there are two groups of four. The top two teams from each group qualify for the semi-finals, where the tournament becomes a straight knock-out.

England are the defending champions. Jos Buttler’s team won the 2022 World Cup in Australia, defeating Pakistan by five wickets in the final.

But as we witnessed in last year's ICC 50 Over World Cup, where England were also the defending champions, that doesn't guarantee any success next time around.

2024 T20 World Cup Betting

India is the No.1 ranked T20 team in world cricket and they are also the +275 favorites to win the 2024 World Cup with the best cricket betting online sites.

Second in the betting is Australia. The Aussies won the 2021 T20 World Cup, comfortably beating New Zealand in a one-sided final by eight wickets. Australia is +350 to win again in 2024.

The third betting favorite is England at +450. The defending champions have been indifferent since their win in 2022, but still have plenty of players with big match temperament and it would be foolish to write them off.

Also among the betting favorites are South Africa at +600, the West Indies at +900, New Zealand at +1000, and Pakistan at +1200. Co-hosts, the USA, are +75000.

India +275

The favorites to win the competition, India, are also the No.1 ranked T20 team in the world.

The Indians are always in the mix when it comes to World Cups. They will be smarting after not winning their home 50-over World Cup in 2023. It was a golden chance squandered. The Indians will see this as an opportunity to immediately right that wrong.

Australia +350

Travis Head was one of the main architects of Australia’s 50 Over World Cup win in 2023 and he has now become one of the most feared hitters in white ball cricket.

Head is taking the game to a new level. Scoring at rates that give opposition captains and bowling attacks sleepless nights.

If he clicks, along with the Aussie pace trio of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood, the current 50-over champions will be hard to stop.

England +450

When England lifted the T20 World Cup in 2022, Jos Buttler and his team were a side on the up. In winning the competition, they became the first nation to hold both whiteball titles simultaneously, and the sky seemed to be the limit.

Things went badly wrong for England in 2023, as they made a woeful attempt at defending their 50-over title in India. As a result, confidence in both England’s white-ball teams has taken a hit, and head coach Matthew Mott is under pressure.

And with Ben Stokes not taking part in the defense of the T20 World Cup, England no longer has the same aura they had when they lifted the trophy for the second time.

Our 2024 T20 World Cup Betting Picks

The world’s elite players will all enter the T20 World Cup on the back of a long Indian Premier League competition.

Pat Cummins and Travis Head of Australia, along with Jos Buttler and Phil Salt of England, have all had excellent competitions. But the majority of the Australia and England players haven’t all been playing in the IPL, whereas the Indian players have all been taking part.

As a result, the Indian players should all be competition-ready, and this gives them a huge edge.

Despite this, India has a habit of falling short when it really matters. As a result, we feel that Australia is a better pick. They know how to get things done.

They are the current holders of the 50 Over World Cup and we can see them doubling up with the T20 World Cup. Travis Head is just in too good form at the moment.

Our pick to win the 2024 T20 World Cup is Australia. For a dark horse bet, back South Africa to win at +600.
