- What: Daniel Dubois vs Oleksandr Usyk
- When: Saturday, August 26th
- Where: Wroclaw, Poland
We're just over a week away from a massive heavyweight title bout between Daniel Dubois and current WBO, WBA, and IBF belt holder Oleksandr Usyk. Given the problems in Ukraine, this fight will take place in Wroclaw, Poland on Saturday, August 26th. Usyk was focusing on securing a clash with Tyson Fury but that fell through and now he'll turn to Dubois while Fury is fighting former UFC champ Francis Ngannou later this year. As for Dubois, he has the opportunity to become a unified champion but it will likely be his most difficult test yet. Below, find the Daniel Dubois vs Oleksandr Usyk picks.

Dubois vs Usyk Odds
By no surprise, Usyk is a massive favorite. He owns steep odds of -1250 for an implied win probability of 92.59%. Dubois meanwhile sits at +700 and has a mere 12.50% chance of pulling off the upset. This is the first-ever meeting between the two. The over/under in rounds comes in at 6.5. Many believe Usyk will notch his 14th career knockout.
Tall Task For Dubois
Dubois certainly holds the age advantage here. He's a whole 10 years younger than Usyk at just 25. The London native is 19-1 in his career with a whopping 18 knockouts, solidifying himself as one of the most exciting up-and-comers in the heavyweight division. Dubois turned pro in 2017 and started things off with a bang, knocking out Marcus Kelly within 35 seconds. As previously mentioned, he's knocked out every single opponent except for Kevin Johnson in 2018 in Leicester, winning on points.
"Dynamite" lost to Joe Joyce in 2020 in England as he was knocked out in the 10th round. Since then, Dubois has gone unbeaten in four straight bouts, retaining his regular WBA heavyweight belt last December with a victory over Kevin Lerena in the third round at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The reality is Dubois almost always dominates fights and overpowers his opposition with immense power. However, that will not be the case next Saturday because Usyk is truly one of the best around who has a ridiculous amount of experience and boxing IQ. He's also never lost. Sure, Dubois has a puncher's chance, but the likelihood of him snatching all of Usyk's belts is slim. This is also only the third time he'll fight outside of London and the first time it's elsewhere in Europe. He did have a couple of bouts across the pond in the United States.
Usyk a Deserving Favorite
There is no question Usyk was hoping for a bout with Fury. It was an opportunity to prove that the Manchester native is actually beatable. After that fell through, Dubois stepped up, and although Usyk won't be taking him for granted, pretty much no one expects the Ukrainian to lose. Usyk, now 36, turned pro in 2013 and has been dominant ever since.
Usyk is a perfect 20-0 in his career with 13 KOs but his last three victories are undoubtedly the most impressive. In 2020, he put Derek Chisora on the canvas on British soil. Then in 2021 and 2022, Usyk overcame Anthony Joshua two times in a row, which was supposed to set up a meeting with Fury. Last August in Saudi Arabia, Usyk retained the WBA Super, IBF, and WBO titles while snatching The Ring heavyweight belt, too.
The Ukrainian is truly a fantastic boxer. While he has the punching power to knock out opponents, Usyk is a top-notch defender who rarely gets hit because of his great hands and footwork. He's extremely mobile and makes life a living hell for his foes.
Knocking out Dubois is possible, but what I expect is for Usyk to land his jabs and combos on the Englishman instead of one massive punch to put Dubois on the canvas. Honestly, Dubois isn't exactly proven enough to even get a chance at the world heavyweight title and I do believe Usyk will humble him rather quickly. The odds are definitely accurate. Usyk is far too technical for Dubois and that will become evident next Saturday. Plus, he'll probably have more support in the stands since the bout is in Poland.
Daniel Dubois vs Oleksandr Usyk Picks
I have zero doubts Usyk wins here. But, instead of rolling with the steep moneyline, take the Ukrainian to win by decision.
