The 33-year-old last fought in June. He defeated Malik Zinad by TKO in Saudi Arabia.
Zinad stepped in at short notice to take the fight after Beterbiev had to withdraw through injury. The stoppage victory ended a run of nine successive wins by unanimous decision.
Bivol has won by unanimous decision in all 11 of his fights that have gone the distance. The most famous being his victory over Saul Alvarez in May 2022.
In the win over Alvarez, all three judges scored it 115-113. So it wasnβt as dominant as it sounded. But take nothing away from Bivol. Even though Alvarez was stepping up from super-middleweight, Bivol was still a massive underdog on the night and was given little chance by most season observers.
