Devin Haney Career Breakdown
Devin Haney has a professional boxing record of 31-0. He has won 16 of his 31 fights by decision, with the other 15 coming by knockout. Previously, Haney was the undisputed champion at Lightweight from 2022 to August 2023. He had to relinquish that title to step up to Super Lightweight, where his first fight was for the title.
The fight in question, Devin Haneyâs most recent, was a unanimous decision points win over Regis Prograis. But his dominant win didnât satisfy everybody, with plenty criticizing the newly crowned Super Lightweight title holder for not finishing off Prograis inside the distance.
In fairness to Haney, with a title at stake, he wanted to box to his strengths and win to secure the belt. But in this day and age, where boxing is seen more as a form of entertainment by many, these sorts of criticisms are going to come.
Regardless, Haney won the fight at a canter, scoring 120-107 on all three judges' scorecards.
Ryan Garcia Career Breakdown
Ryan Garcia has a 25-fight professional boxing career of 24 wins and one defeat. Of his 24 wins, 20 have come by knockout, with four going to the scorecards. His one loss was by TKO and came at the hands of Gervonta Davis.
Garcia was heavily criticized after the loss, with some claiming he quit by refusing to get back to his feet after a body shot floored him in the 7th round.
That was in his last but one fight. Garcia bounced back from his only loss by knocking out Oscar Duarte in the 8th round of their contest at the Toyota Center in December 2023.
Haney vs. Garcia Picks and Predictions
The betting says that Ryan Garcia is likely to lose his second fight in his last three contests when the two step into the ring on April 21st.
For anybody out there who feels Garcia can score the 21st knockdown of his career, he is +550 to win the fight and +900 to win by KO/TKO/DQ.
We are not backing either on the money line, though. We donât see Garcia winning, and Haney is no value to back at -800.
So where is the value? To win by KO/TKO/DQ, Haney is +225. Could there be some value there? And he is -163 to win on points. Under 10.5 rounds is an interesting bet as well. Itâs +200, similar to the odds of Haney winning by a KO. And this bet would also cover Garciaâs puncher's chance of pulling off a shock win.
The most likely outcome of this fight is that Haney will outbox Garcia and wear him down. This could lead to knock-out opportunities in the second half of the fight. So rather than go for under 10.5 rounds, we are instead backing Devin Haney to win inside the distance.
Garcia showed in the Gervonta Davis fight that he isnât one for hanging around in a losing cause. Our betting pick is for Devin Haney to win by KO/TKO/DQ at +225.
