June 4th brings a massive lightweight title fight down under at the Marvel Stadium in Australia as George Kambosos Jr. and Devin Haney go head-to-head to determine if Kambosos will hold onto the belt or if Haney can snatch it away from him. Boxing fans will be hoping this bout can be just as exciting as last weekend's between Gervonta Davis and Rolando Romero as "Tank" knocked out his opponent in the sixth round.
This is the first fight since 1991 that will determine the undisputed lightweight champion of the world.
- Date & Location: Saturday, June 4, 2022, at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia
- Time: 7 p.m. ET
- How to Watch: DAZN
Kambosos Jr., who hails from Sydney, Australia, owns a 20-0 record in his boxing career including 10 knockouts. The Aussie currently holds all four lightweight title belts coming into Saturday's fight. He made his pro debut at the tender age of 19 and has been utterly dominant in the sport since. Kambosos beat Mickey Bey and Lee Selby in 2019 and 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic hit. After a small lay-off, he returned to the ring in November of last year and battled it out with Teofimo Lopez, taking out the 24-year-old in a split decision. In the process, Kambosos took a firm hold on the WBA, WBO, IBF, and The Ring lightweight titles.
Haney meanwhile, is expected to face a lot of adversity in Kambosos's homeland, but he's also very capable. The American is an impressive 27-0 while knocking out 15 of his opponents. The California native started his early years fighting out of Mexico before ultimately winning the WBC Youth Lightweight title in 2017. Haney captured the interim WBC lightweight title in 2019 against Antonio Moran, viciously knocking him out in the seventh round. Haney has more fights on his resume than Kambosos and last fought in December against Joseph Diaz winning by unanimous decision.

George Kambosos Jr vs Devin Haney odds
George Kambosos Jr vs Devin Haney Prediction
Kambosos absolutely picked apart Lopez in his last fight, landing 61 jabs and 24.6% of his punches, including 13 body shots. He actually went into that bout as an underdog but managed to pull off the upset. It was rounds 11 and 12 that really proved to be the difference-maker for the Aussie, outdueling Lopez 41-16 to seal the deal. While Kambosos has managed to rack up his fair share of KO's, his last three fights ended in a split decision. Haney has never been in a fight that ended in such a manner. That being said, there is a very good chance this ends in a knockout. With the crowd behind him, Kambosos will be hoping to retain all the belts.
Haney is tremendous at defending himself. It does help that he trains with the great Floyd Mayweather Jr, who was one of the best at his craft. The 23-year-old looked very composed against Diaz in his most recent bout, edging him out 164-140 in total punches. He also weighed Diaz down with 71 of his punches to the body. Although Haney does have the power to knock his opponent out, he's extremely smart in the ring and can hurt Kambosos in a variety of different ways, whether it's with body punches or quick jabs. There is a potential deterrent for the Haney, however. His father and coach were denied entry to Australia and they both play a huge part in Haney's corner. He'll need to dig deep and find his best on Saturday without them.
In the end, though, I do believe Haney will overcome the crowd and knockout Kambosos.
OSB Prediction: Devin Haney by knockout (+600)
How long does Kambosos Jr vs Haney last?
This is an interesting prop to bet on due to the recent history of both fighters. Four of Kambosos's last five fights have gone the full distance. As for Haney, six of his last eight have hit the over in rounds. The over/under here is set at 10.5. These two can take hits and keep going, which is why there could be huge value in this fight going close to the full 12 rounds.
Neither fighter has ever been knocked out but Haney's experience as a champ should prove to be huge here. As for the rounds, I actually think there is the most value with the under at +300. If Haney is going to put Kambosos on the floor, it will be earlier rather than later in the bout when they're both mentally and physically drained.
Pick: Under 10.5 rounds (+300)
