Eric Uribe

Born and raised in Nevada, Eric was exposed to the world of sports betting at an early age. He yearned to be 21 just to hit the sportsbook, and when that day finally came, he became a regular at the smoke-filled room, sweating out bets with sketchy characters. Eric's passion for sports betting hasn't wavered since. However, he's developed a separate interest in business too. Eric combines both these deep passions for OSB where he not only drops expert betting advice, but also researched news about the state of industry. Things like new legalization bills, tax changes, state revenue, innovation, and so much more!

Churchill Downs in Kentucky is Removing Online Sports Betting Options

2022/02/28

In what many considered a surprising move, Churchill Downs, Inc., has decided to remove online and mobile sports betting options from their portfolio. The company, which is based in Kentucky and synonymous with the Kentucky Derby that takes place at the Churchill Downs racetrack, believes it no longer makes sense for their customers to use such services offered by them. But are they correct? And will this decision have any impact on legal sports betting in the larger state of Kentucky? Let's take a look.

Mandaloun to Win Saudi Cup 2022

2022/02/25

There is no richer horse race in the world than the $20 million Saudi Cup (G1), and that race is coming up on Saturday, February 26!  The race covers 1,800 meters (about 1 ⅛ miles) over the dirt at King Abdulaziz Racecourse in Riyadh. It drew fourteen of the best horses in the world, a field befitting such a princely purse!

The Saudi Cup is one of the newest additions to the world racing calendar. It has been run just twice, and 2022 is the first year that it has been given international Group 1 status. Though proven dirt horse Maximum Security won its first running, Mishriff switched from turf to dirt in 2021, proving that sometimes class is not restricted to just one footing.

Will Mishriff repeat from his far-outside gate in 2022, or will another horse take the crown?

Iowa Keeps Setting Sports Betting Records Ahead of 2022 March Madness

2022/02/25

As soon as legal sports gambling arrived in Iowa towards the latter half of 2021, the revenue started streaming down in droves. Not only did they clear nine figures in their first month, but they nearly toppled a quarter-billion dollars in total sports bets during their inaugural go-round. And if you thought that was something, you haven't seen anything yet. Iowa has continued to reset their sports-betting benchmark ahead of the 2022 March Madness tournament, and they don't appear as if they'll ever look back.
