- Where: Kingdom Arena, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
- When: Saturday, December 21st, 2024

Oleksandr Usyk will defend his three heavyweight titles when he fights Tyson Fury later this month. Usyk won the first fight in May, condemning Fury to a first-ever career defeat with a split decision win at the same venue as the upcoming fight.
The first contest was close. It could have gone either way. Fury had the better of the opening exchanges, but Usyk was the better man in the second half of the fight, almost finishing Fury off with some astonishing combinations at the end of the 9th round.
Fury somehow hung on. But Usyk’s strong finish won him the fight by a split decision. Two judges scored the fight 114-113, 115-112 for Usyk, the third had it 114-113 in favor of Fury. Most observers saw that as a fair result.

More of the same for Oleksandr Usyk
Oleksandr Usyk has a perfect fight record. Fighting out of a Southpaw stance, Usyk boasts a 22-0 career record, with 14 of his 22 victories coming by KO, and eight by decision.
Usyk first became a heavyweight champion when he defeated Anthony Joshua in a unanimous decision in 2021. Joshua triggered his rematch clause, but again he couldn’t find a way to beat the Ukrainian, this time losing on a split decision.
Usyk defended his belts against another Brit, Daniel Dubois, beating the Londoner with a 9th-round KO in a controversial fight in Poland in August 2023.
Completing his sweep of the British fighters, Usyk defeated Fury in May of this year to unify the division.
He has since had to vacate the IBF title to take the Fury rematch.
Can Fury bounce back from first career loss?
The May fight against Usyk was the first defeat of Tyson Fury’s professional fighting career. Fighting out of an orthodox stance, Fury has a career record of 34-1-1. At 36 years old, Fury has been considerably busier in his career than his 37-year-old opponent.
The only other blemish on Fury’s fight record was a controversial draw with Deontay Wilder in December 2018. Fury was the winner in most people’s eyes.
A rematch took place in February 2020, with Fury winning by TKO, and picking up the WBC Heavyweight title belt in the process. Then there was a trilogy fight, this time Fury won with a brutal 11th-round KO.
Fury successfully defended the title twice, defeating Dillian Whyte and Derek Chisora, both in 2022.
He then fought former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou in October in a non-championship bout, winning by a controversial split decision. Most thought Fury lost the fight.
It wasn’t the ideal preparation for the Usyk showdown, and so it proved with Fury losing on points.
Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury Betting Picks and Predictions
Tyson Fury claims he knows where things went wrong in the first fight against Usyk. And while we don’t doubt that, we are not convinced he will be able to turn the tables on the champion and beat him in the rematch.
Usyk is too street-wise, even for Fury. He knows he will have a greater chance the longer the fight goes on, and we can see Usyk sticking to his game plan and staying out of trouble early on, before finishing the fight strongly to keep hold of his belts.
A win for Usyk is our betting pick. It will either be with a late stoppage or on points. So we are backing Usyk to win on the money line to cover both outcomes.
