What: NHL Picks And Best Bets
When: Monday, November 11, 2024
The Dallas Stars were expected to be top Stanley Cup contenders in the NHL betting picks and so far, that's how it's working out. The same opinion was held of both the Colorado Avalanche and Nashville Predators, but both clubs are struggling out of the gate.
No one was predicting great things this season for the Montreal Canadiens or Buffalo Sabres, but when these two Atlantic Division rivals get together on the ice, it's still an entertaining affair.
Among the six NHL games on tap for Monday, these teams are involved in the three games that we think offer the best bets of the night in the NHL picks.

Predators vs Avalanche Odds & Prediction
Puck Line | Moneyline | Total | |
---|---|---|---|
Nasvhille Predators | +1.5 (-185) | +133 | O 6.5 (-103) |
Colorado Avalanche | -1.5 (+160) | -155 | U 6.5 (-117) |
Seen as a legitimate Cup hopeful following the offseason additions of Steven Stamkos, Jonathan Marchessault and Brady Skjei, instead the Predators have bungled their way to a dismal 5-9-1 start to the season. They do come to Colorado off one of their best efforts of the season. Nashville posted a 4-0 home shutout of Utah. That halted a three-game skid.
Nashville has already endured losing runs of two, three and five games this season. Beginning a five-game road swing, the Predators are a disappointing 1-3-1 away from home so far this season.
It's also been an underwhelming 7-8-0 launch to the season for the Avalanche. They're also coming into this game off a big win. Colarado downed the Carolina Hurricanes 6-4 on Saturday. That being said, the Avs are just 2-4 over the past six games. They've allowed at least four goals in five of the last seven games.

One thing Colorado has going for it is the fact that the Avs do own a solid home success streak over the Predators. The Avalanche have won five in a row at home against Nashville and seven of the last eight games. Go with the Avalanche to keep that home cooking simmering in the Monday NHL picks.
Canadiens vs Sabres Odds & Prediction
Puck Line | Moneyline | Total | |
---|---|---|---|
Montreal Canadiens | +1.5 (-147) | +168 | O 6.5 (-108 |
Buffalo Sabres | -1.5 (+127) | -198 | U 6.5 (-112) |
Maybe they have a fondness for chicken wings. Whatever the case, there's just something about their visits to Buffalo that brings out the best in the Montreal Canadiens. The Habs have won four straight at Buffalo. They haven't lost at the KeyBank Center since 2021.
They could certainly do with an injection of that magic elixir right about now. The Canadiens are losers of six in a row (0-5-1) and are a dismal 2-8-2 over the past 10 games. Montreal has allowed 29 goals during the club's current six-game slide. The Canadiens have also surrendered seven power-play goals during this span.
Buffalo comes into this game riding the club's second three-game winning streak of the season. However, the Sabres have also endured a pair of three-game losing streaks, so consistency is not their long suit.
Games between these two clubs tend to carry a home-ice disadvantage. The visiting team is 7-0 straight up in the last seven Buffalo vs Montreal games and 8-1 SU over the past nine meetings. We're going to ignore the recent form starts and stay with this unusual betting trend. Take the Canadiens to buffalo the Sabres yet again in the Monday NHL picks.
Stars vs Penguins Odds & Prediction
Puck Line | Moneyline | Total | |
---|---|---|---|
Dallas Stars | -1.5 (+153) | -168 | O 6.5 (EVEN) |
Pittsburgh Penguins | +1.5 (-175) | +142 | U 6.5 (-120) |
Pittsburgh finally found a path back into the win column on Friday. The Penguins beat the Washington Capitals 4-2. Still, the Pens are a dismal 3-6-2 through the past 11 games. The Penguins are 30th in goals against, allowing 59 total goals. That works out to 3.7 goals against per game.
Pittsburgh has won two in a row at home, but the Penguins' victims, Montreal and Anaheim, don't exactly reside among the NHL elite. They also have points in eight of the last 12 games against Dallas and are 5-1-1 in their last seven home meetings with the Stars. However, the Stars own a current three-game win streak in the series.

It's been a bit of a struggle of late for the 8-5-0 Stars. Dallas has lost three of the past four games and are just 2-4-0 this season on the road.
With this game, though, we're going to move away for suggesting a bet on the moneyline or puck line. The total for the Stars at Penguins game is set at 6.5 goals. In each of the last 11 games between Dallas and Pittsburgh, they've gone under that total. In fact, the average total over those 11 contests is jst 4.63 goals per game. Bet the under in this Dallas at Pittsburgh game in the Monday NHL picks.
