The Sixth Man of the Year race might not grab the top headlines during the NBA season, but it's an engaging award to follow.
These players typically come off the bench to provide crucial scoring contributions, often changing the dynamics of a game on their own.
Last season, Minnesota's Naz Reid took home the award, showcasing impressive skills from long-range and excellent ball-handling that helped him stand out.
This year's race for the Sixth Man of the Year seems quite competitive, promising another exciting season ahead. Let's dive into the latest 2024-25 NBA Sixth Man of the Year odds and discuss our top picks.

Malik Monk
Malik Monk has been one of the top contenders in the Sixth Man of the Year race in each of the last two years, but both times, he came up just short.
Monk earned a fifth-place finish in 2022-23 before a career year in 2023-24 put him second only to Naz Reid ā and by an incredibly narrow margin.
The 26-year-old will undoubtedly be motivated to turn in another strong campaign, but he may not have the same opportunity to shine.
Great transition block from Malik Monk.
The most impressive thing might've been how quickly he got back on defense. #fast pic.twitter.com/J34eMLqsUF

Adding DeMar DeRozan hurts Monkās case more than it helps and could potentially cut into his minutes and touches. Monk will still make the most of what he gets, but it wouldnāt surprise me if his averages decline a bit across the board.
Oddsmakers believe he will still win Sixth Man of the Year under those circumstances, pricing him as the favorite for the award. His odds are +450 to win the award.
Naz Reid
Reid entered the 2023-24 season as one of the league's more underrated sixth men, but he truly showed his talent when the Timberwolves gained national attention.
The 24-year-old big man was integral to Minnesota's rotation, averaging 13.5 points and 5.2 rebounds while connecting on 41.4% of his three-point attempts.
I anticipate that Reid will continue to play a crucial role in the T-Wolves' offense in 2025, but he won't be the sole contributor this time.

Rookie guards Rob Dillingham and Terrence Shannon Jr. are both natural scorers and may see significant playing time during the regular season.
I'm uncertain about Reid being a top candidate for this award if his statistics take a downturn. It doesn't seem very likely that Reid or any player would win this award in consecutive seasons.
Reid's priced at +1000 to win the NBA Sixth Man of the Year award again.

Bennedict Mathurin
Last year, Bennedict Mathurin faced an injury that led to Andrew Nembhard stepping in as a starter. Now, Mathurin has settled into a sixth-man role.
After a promising rookie season, the aforementioned injury hampered Mathurin from building on that impressive debut.
As he returned to the fast-paced Pacers this preseason, Mathurin posted averages of 13.3 points, 2.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 2.0 three-pointers per game with a shooting percentage of 47.2%.

Mathurin's role as the Pacers' key scorer off the bench is crucial. As he appears to be regaining his peak form, the ambitious Pacers will rely on his contributions to secure a spot in the top four of the Eastern Conference this year.
This gives Mathurin a solid opportunity to contend for the Sixth Man of the Year award. Oddsmakers have priced Mathurin at +800 to take home the award.
Donte DiVincenzo
Donte DiVincenzo is the perfect candidate to snag the award. He can score in bunches as one of the league's top perimeter shooters.
Interestingly, DiVincenzo's odds have stayed relatively consistent since his trade from the New York Knicks to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Donte DiVincenzo truly brings an element to this Wolves team that they did not have outside of Ant.
Fun to see the mini Get action with NAW give enough separation. All Donte needs is a bit of daylight from the trailing Shead to let it fly. pic.twitter.com/feUzxmhwl3

At 27 years old, he averaged 15.5 points per game last season with the Knicks, making 3.5 three-pointers on 8.7 attempts each game.
Given his impact on a defensively-focused team, the Timberwolves will look to maximize DiVincenzo's playing time. Minnesota could boast a formidable bench this season with both him and Reid.
DiVincenzo's odds are +1600 to take home the award.
