The MotoGP season continues with the first of three straight weeks of racing. The Far East portion hits the middle leg of its journey with Phillip Island on the docket. The Far East Rolls Into Australia

Yes, the Far East rolls into Australia. At least now, American viewers can follow along a little. For the East Coast, this race takes place during the 11:00 news. That would be 10:00 in the Central then 9 in the Mountain and 8 in the Pacific. That is not so bad. Unlike Japan and Indonesia, staying up will be a little easier. Yes, the MotoGP riders expect to provide quite a treat on the 12-turn course that features some intriguing twists and turns.

The Australia Grand Prix has been back on this track since the late 1990's. Other than 2020 and 2021, the Phillip Island Grand Prix course has been a mainstay on the MotoGP tour. Since Valentino Rossi, only Marc Marquez has won multiple times at the top level in Australia. With a revitalized Ducati, Marquez will try to win for the fourth time late on Saturday night.

This can be one of the more chaotic races on the Far East tour. For example, last year saw Francesco Bagnaia nearly fumble his title hopes away but held on for second place as Johann Zarco rode to victory. It was a Ducati sweep on the podium but there was no Jorge Martin. Unfortunately, the Spaniard nearly crashed during the middle portion of the race. He finished fifth a second from the victory.

Okay, last year was nuts. Five riders were within a second. Zarco held off Bagnaia by a mere two-tenths of a second. Brad Binder finished fourth but might have won if the race was a few hundred meters longer. The race was a 27-lap instant classic.

2024 Australia GP Bets Side With Bagnaia

The 2024 Australia GP Bets side with Bagnaia on Saturday night in more ways than one. A telling yet prophetic quote from Bagnaia two weeks ago was very true. "There are four riders who can win every race. Me, Jorge Martin, Marc Marquez, and Enea Bastianini have the top speed to dominate from here to Spain." Based on the results from Japan, it appears the Italian is not wrong. The four riders were dominant as Franco Morbidelli was 13+ seconds off of the fourth place Bastianini.

Knowing the race conditions could be dry and that Bagnaia was as long as +250 there seemed like a dream. It was not as the Italian went on to claim yet another victory this season. Despite eight wins, the Italian has work to do as he still trails Jorge Martin by 10 points in the World Title standings. Bagnaia has not ridden well in Sprints obviously but a few crash outs has been the real difference maker. The top Italian most continue to stay on the track.

The 2024 Australia GP Picks hoped that Bagnaia would not be the favorite based on how fast Jorge Martin was early in the 2023 edition. However, people remembered how close Bagnaia was to truly winning this race. It feels like this will be a considerable fight to the finish. When one looks at the loops and turns, Honda Corner, and the Gardner Straight, this one has the makings of another close call for Bagnaia.

Bagnaia's number halved itself from two weeks ago. He is the very slight favorite here and for good reason. It is that late-run speed which should pay dividends in the final laps. This time, Bagnaia figures to take another race.

Okay Can Jorge Martin Keep This Thing Upright?

The 2024 Australia GP Bets wonders if Jorge Martin can keep this thing upright. While the pressure begins to mount, is this the race that sees yet another title lead change? One huge curve may be the weather conditions on Saturday. Who can navigate the potentially high winds early on Saturday. After heavy thunderstorms on Friday, winds of 60+km/hr could be in the offing early in the weekend.

At the least, Marc Marquez is tempting at +250. Could be the second straight driver to win at +250 odds via Bocada? Anything is possible. Marquez remains a possibility but Martin has the speed in the corners and technical sections to contend and win at Australia. He just has to avoid mistakes during the middle laps. That will be vital in the Sprint race. One wrong move and the Spaniard could easily crash out.

Alright, as much as another long shot is tempting, no one seems to have the top-line speed to contend with the Big 4. Barring crashes, it will either likely be Bagnaia or Jorge Martin to win..
