2025 College Baseball World Series Betting Picks

Each June, Omaha, Nebraska, becomes the epicenter of college baseball for the College World Series, often compared to March Madness in terms of excitement. This annual tournament, first held in 1947 and only interrupted in 2020, crowns the NCAA Division I baseball champion. In 2024, Tennessee claimed the title after defeating Texas A&M in the finals.

  • What? 2025 College Baseball World Series
  • Where? Omaha, Nebraska
  • When? June 13 - 22/23, 2025

Let’s take a look at some of the early college baseball odds for the 2025 World Series from three of the best sports betting sites.

Tennessee

Tennessee made its third College World Series appearance in the last four years, riding the momentum of the best regular-season record in college baseball. As the SEC champions, they entered Omaha with the shortest odds to capture their first-ever title. They were one of four SEC teams in 2024's final eight.

Texas A&M

Second only to Tennessee in the SEC standings, Texas A&M holds the joint-best odds to win the College World Series. Armed with a high-powered offense, the Aggies looked primed to claim the 2024 championship after taking down Oregon in the super regionals. They eventually fell to Tennessee in the final

Kentucky

Although typically recognized for its basketball program, Kentucky is proving its mettle on the baseball field with its first-ever College World Series appearance last year. The Wildcats remained in the hunt late into proceedings last season after overcoming Oregon State in the super regionals.

North Carolina

UNC returned to the College World Series for the first time since 2018. Last year, the ACC champions advanced after edging out West Virginia in a pair of tight games during the super regionals.

Florida State

Despite 23 College World Series appearances and three runner-up finishes, Florida State still seeks its first title. After rebounding from a losing season in 2023, the Seminoles secured their spot in Omaha for the first time since 2019 by defeating UConn in the super regionals of 2024.

Virginia

Virginia reached the 2024 College World Series for the third time in four years. They secured their place by beating Kansas State in the super regionals. This marked their seventh appearance in the last 15 seasons under head coach Brian O’Connor, the second-most for any program during that stretch.

Florida

Florida earned its 14th College World Series berth in dramatic fashion with a 13-inning win over Clemson in the super regionals. Despite a modest 28-27 record entering the tournament, the Gators caught fire with five consecutive wins. They arrived in Omaha with plenty of momentum but missed out.

North Carolina State

Following Final Four appearances in both men’s and women’s basketball, NC State also secured a trip to the 2024 College World Series. Though the Wolfpack had the longest odds in the field, they’ve made a habit of exceeding expectations across various sports.

College Baseball World Series History

The College World Series looked quite different in its early years. When it began in 1947, the tournament featured just eight teams and took place in Kalamazoo, Michigan. That first title was claimed by the University of California, who defeated Yale. In 1948, the event stayed in Kalamazoo before moving to Wichita, Kansas, in 1949. It found a permanent home in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1950, where it has been held ever since. According to the NCAA's current deal with CWS Omaha, the series will remain in Nebraska through at least 2035.

Over time, the format has evolved. In 1999, the tournament expanded to its present structure to accommodate the growing number of Division I teams. Despite the tournament's growth, it has largely been dominated by schools in warmer regions, where top baseball talent is typically recruited.

College Baseball World Series Format

The College World Series format has seen many changes over the years. What started with just eight teams in 1947 has expanded to a 64-team field in 1999. This structure remains in place today.

The tournament kicks off with the Regionals, featuring 64 teams—31 automatic bids for conference champions and 33 at-large selections made by the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee. Sixteen of these teams are given national seeds, which means they have the potential to host games in the second round, should they advance.

In the Regionals, the teams are divided into 16 groups, each containing four teams ranked 1-4. The double-elimination format ensures that teams must lose twice to be knocked out, and no re-seeding occurs after the first round. The 16 group winners move on to the Super Regionals.

In the Super Regionals, the remaining teams are paired up to compete in best-of-three series. Once again, teams that lose twice are eliminated. The eight winners then advance to Omaha for the College World Series, which marks the third round of the tournament.

These eight finalists are split into two double-elimination brackets of four teams each. The champions from both brackets then face off in the College World Series Finals, a best-of-three showdown to crown the NCAA champion.

Spanning around four weeks, the tournament begins with the Regionals in early June and culminates with the Finals in late June each year.
