OSB Martin To Gain A Cushion And Win Indonesia

The MotoGP riders finally head to the Far East. Unfortunately for most, the World Title Race has been decided. Yes, the riders head to the beautiful island nation of Indonesia. Stormy weather is expected for the Sprint and Sunday Raceday. Could this edition of the race alter the championship standings? We look at several 2024 Indonesian GP Bets worth taking that may leave more than a few heads scratching after this weekend.

  • What: 2024 Indonesian GP
  • When: Sunday, September 29 at 3:00 am EDT
  • Where: Mandalika International Street Circuit - West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia

So September is almost over. The Far East portion of the schedule starts with Indonesia then off to Japan, Australia, and beyond. Jorge Martin extended his lead after another Bagnaia mishap. With races beginning to dwindle, the Spaniard is starting to believe a first world title may happen. At Online Sports Betting, we recommend check the weather often. The rain can pop up at any time and turn a dry race into a super soaker instantly.

The Far East Is Here

Yes, the Far East is here. The part of the schedule that means crazy wake-up times to watch races. This throws off even the most astute MotoGP watcher from time to time. For example, this Sunday's race in Indonesia airs at 3:00 in the morning. That is for Eastern Daylight Time. It means Midnight for those on the West Coast. This does create some unique betting opportunities as the Sprint time will be at a strange hour for most.

The Grand Prix in Indonesia has been on this track since 2022. Last year saw Francesco Bagnaia win dramatically after Jorge Martin crashed early. Bagnaia edged out Maverick Vinales and Fabio Quartararo by barely 0.4 seconds. This did not have the controversy from Misano where Enea Bastianini forced Jorge Martin wide. It was determined that Bastianini did not commit an egregious enough mistake. That allowed the Italian to hold on to the victory.

This is one of those races were everything is fast! A street course dictates lightning reflexes and not a ton of passing zones. In theory, the factory Ducati's again have the usual technical performance advantage. The 4.301-kilometer course features 17 turns in all. It will feel like 20+ turns by the time riders are done with one lap. Anyway, potential downpours and wind can leave parts of the course flooded literally. That causes riders to literally have to adapt on the fly.

Okay, in theory, Indonesia favors the skill set of Bagnaia over Martin and even Marquez. However, the rain favors riders like Binder and Acosta with their KTM bikes. Then again, it might stay dry and make all of this moot. That is the nature of Far East racing. Trying to project how Indonesia may play out is quite a challenge.

2024 Indonesian GP Bets Are Going For Martin

The 2024 Indonesian GP Bets go for Martin for Sunday. Yes, just when this year's title race seems to have some focus, there's a twist. Look at Bagnaia last week at Misano. He probably should have won or at least been on the podium, instead the Italian DNF's. People forget how fast Martin was at Indonesia last year before disaster struck. That paved the way for Bagnaia's dramatics. Yes, a twist can always happen. However, maybe this time it does not.

Yes, the potential for strong thunderstorms could throw this right off the rails. However, at -200, Martin is not as good a choice to win the World Title as the +150 to win on Sunday. That will change between now and the weekend. Expect the Spaniard to qualify ridiculously fast again. His ability to Sprint on this track is not in question.

The reality of the 2024 MotoGP Indonesia Picks is this. Is there a Luca Marini that can push a Martin early? The answer is no. A push will come from the contenders and maybe a rider like Brad Binder or Pedro Acosta. Again, so many variables factor into races in the Far East. This is truly a different betting animal. Take Martin at the moment given the moment.

Okay We Have To Factor In The KTM

The 2024 MotoGP Indonesia Bets may have to factor in the KTM. While some unexpected riders have a chance on Sunday, we zero in on two who often like adverse weather. One is Pedro Acosta but the other is Brad Binder. Binder runs well on courses like these and the KTM's were sixth and seventh last year after being back a ways during the middle stages of the race. Again, factoring wet, dry, and flooded track comes into play here.

At the least, the Red Bull KTM bikes continue to make steady improvements. However, their ability to drive in the wets essentially lifts them up several positions. That could mean a podium spot or even better perhaps. There is at least potential. Again, a lot of things would have to break right. A few DNF's from the top contenders probably would need to occur as well.

Alright, with the current forecast models, Brad Binder has as nice a shot as any to steal a victory out of Indonesia on Sunday. Even Pedro Acosta could end up near the podium. That +1400 number for Binder may even slide a little further.
