Best Bets UFC Undercard

The upcoming UFC Fight Night is stacked with fights. While most of the betting attention is going on the main and co-main event, bettors are missing out on potentially big profits in the undercard. Weā€™ve personally found three UFC undercard bets worth putting money on. Keep reading to get our free picks!

  • What: UFC Fight Night Austin
  • When: Saturday, December 2
  • Where: Moody Center in Austin, Texas

Clay Guida vs. Joaquim Silva Betting Pick

That is right, UFCā€™s most famous journeyman fighter, Guida, is in action this weekend. No surprise, the almost 42-year-old is not expected to win. However, rather than just betting the moneyline, weā€™ve found a good prop bet in the Guida vs. Silva showdown. Itā€™s a prop centered on not who just wins, but how so. Hereā€™s the list of betting options at UFCā€™s best betting sites:

Guida by Decision+550+550+550
Guida by KO+600+600+600
Guida by Submission+1600+1600+1600
Silva by Decision+205+205+205

Guida is a legend, plain and simple. Itā€™s not easy to stay in this sport at nearly 42 years old (his birthday is in December). His career record is 38-23, which is a hell of a lot of mileage. But despite this, Guida just keeps on going and going. Heā€™s yet to have a fight where heā€™s looked completely out of his element due to age. Thatā€™s not to say heā€™s not declining, of course he is, but heā€™s surprisingly staying competitive.

However, thereā€™s no way we can confidently pick Guida to beat Silva who is eight years younger. Silva is a good heavy-handed puncher in the lightweight division. He prefers standing up to fighting on the ground despite having a jiu-jitsu background. Ten of his 16 career fights have ended in knockout ā€” either him delivering it (seven wins) or him taking it (three losses by KO).

We fully expect this fight to be a striking war. Guida, despite his age, has a high motor and isnā€™t afraid to charge ahead. Thatā€™s an admirable quality, but could get him finished by Silva, who is quite dangerous. Our prediction is Silva wins by KO and thatā€™s what weā€™re banking on betting-wise.

Miesha Tate vs. Julia Avila Betting Pick

Weā€™re looking forward to this fight. Tate is also a legend among womenā€™s fighters, thatā€™s why itā€™s interesting to see her fight in the prelims. We couldnā€™t skip betting on it, hence why weā€™re here. Hereā€™s the current moneyline odds between Tate and Avila:

FighterBetUSBovadaBetOnline
Julia Avila-145-145-145
Miesha Tate+115+115+115

Tate is the former bantamweight champion of the world ā€” both in UFC and Strikeforce. Sheā€™s essentially fought every major name there is to fight in this division ā€” Rounda Rousey (twice), Liz Carmouche, Amanda Nunes, etc. Now 37 years old though, her career is winding down. Sheā€™s only 1-2 in her last fights, all of which came after a five-year layoff from fighting.

Admittedly, Tate looked awful last time out, losing a decision to Lauren Murphy last July. She won one round on one scorecard, and thatā€™s it. Tate is either just super slow nowadays or just isnā€™t interested in the sport anymore cause her activity was low, really low that matchup. That fight against an older competitor in Murphy too.

Avila will be the slightly younger fighter in this one as sheā€™s 35. Sheā€™s a very balanced fighter with a 9-2 career record. Avila loves brawling so expect her to go on the offensive against Tate. We wouldnā€™t be surprised if Avila gets Tate out early with a KO. This is an easy bet for us, maybe one worth putting extra money on too.

Punahele Soriano Vs. Dustin Stoltzfus Betting Pick

A pair of middleweights get down in this bout. As it stands, Soriano is a pretty convincing moneyline favorite at -305. Weā€™re not in love with that line hence why weā€™re betting the Soriano-Stoltzfus over/under instead. Hereā€™s how the line shakes out:

OutcomeBetUSBovadaBetOnline
Over 1.5 rounds-155-155-155
Under 1.5 rounds+125+125+125

We have a sneaking suspicion this fight ends early ā€” and quite early at that. For one, Soriano has one-punch power. In nine career wins, seven ended in the first round. Heā€™s also coming off the first-ever KO loss of his career so perhaps his chin is more vulnerable than ever.

Then thereā€™s Stoltzfus, who is a pretty solid grappler. He averages more takedowns 1.76 than his opponent, who is at 0.9. Half of Stoltzfusā€™ 14 wins have come early, more so by submission than KO so thereā€™s finish potential. We say Soriano wins early, but thereā€™s a chance he gets cracked too. All this makes the under bet the better play in our book.
