2023 US Grand Prix F1 Betting Picks

Round 19 of the F1 season is the 2023 United States Grand Prix which takes place at the Circuit of the Americas track in Austin this Sunday. Again this weekend there is a Sprint Race on Saturday. And again this weekend, Max Verstappen (-450) is a heavy odds-on-betting favorite to win the Grand Prix on Sunday. Here we take a look at the race and tell you the best bets to make in our latest Formula 1 betting picks.

  • What; 2023 United States Grand Prix - Round 19
  • Where; Circuit of the Americas, Austin, USA
  • When; Sunday, October 22nd, 2023
  • Time; 3 pm ET
  • Laps; 56
  • Race Distance; 308.405 km

First up, Max Verstappen is now a triple-world champion. The Dutchman secured the three-peat by finishing second in the Sprint race in Qatar at the start of the month. Not content with second in the Sprint and a third successive Drivers Championship, Verstappen then went on to win the actual Grand Prix on the following Sunday, his 14th win of the 2023 F1 season.

Betting to win the Drivers Championship without Verstappen

Max Verstappen may have wrapped up the Drivers Championship, and Red Bull already had the Constructors Championship confirmed. But that doesnā€™t mean thereā€™s nothing more at stake this season - especially from a betting perspective.

In the betting to win the Drivers Championship without Verstappen, the Dutchmanā€™s teammate Sergio Perez is still out in front on 224 points, 30 ahead of his closest rival Lewis Hamilton (194 points). In the betting, Perez is -400, and Hamilton is +275.

Also hanging in there is Fernando Alonso. The Spaniard has 183 points, but his Aston Martin has been poor towards the end of the season, which is reflected in his latest odds of +20000 in this market.

Betting to win the Constructors Championship without Red Bull

In the betting to win the Constructors Championship without Red Bull, Mercedes (-350) are the favorites. Currently, they sit second behind Red Bull with 326 points. Ferrari sits third in the table on 298 points and is +350 second favorite in the betting.

Despite being fourth in the table on 230 points, Aston Martin hasnā€™t even been given odds by BetOnline. This shows just how poorly they have performed in the second half of the F1 season.

The outsiders who have arrived late at the party are McLaren. After double podiums in their last two races, McLaren now has 219 points and is +750.

Betting to win the 2023 United States Grand Prix

In the latest betting to win Sundayā€™s race, Max Verstappen is -450 with the best Formula 1 online betting sites. Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri are joint-second at +1200, with - no longer assuming the automatic role of second favorite every week - Sergio Perez next at +1800.

After the two Red Bulls and McLarens is Charles Leclerc at +2500. Then the trio of Carlos Sainz, George Russell, and Lewis Hamilton are +2800. Further underlining the decline in Aston Martin, Fernando Alonso is +6600.

Our US Grand Prix Betting Picks

The most successful team at the US Grand Prix is Ferrari with ten wins, and Lewis Hamilton is the best driver with six career wins.

One of those wins didnā€™t come in 2022, as Max Verstappen took the checkered flag. But Lewis Hamilton did finish second with Charles Leclerc third. To complete the history lesson, Carlos Sainz was on the pole, and George Russell had the fastest lap.

All this shows that although Verstappen won here last year, Red Bull didnā€™t have things all their own way. The 5.513 km long course has 20 turns, of which only three require the drivers to use their brakes (according to AlphaTauriā€™s website). In the last two races, McLaren has benefited from the fast corners, so these facts suggest they might also take a liking to this course.

Take a Punt on McLaren

Again, this weekend, there is a Sprint race. Max Verstappen is also the favorite to win that race at -400, with Lando Norris at +1100 and Oscar Piastri at +1200.

We feel that the McLarens are good value to win the Sprint. Itā€™s a shorter format, and if one of their drivers can get to the front of the field, anything is possible. To put it another way, at odds of +1100 on Lando Norris and +1200 on Oscar Piastri, they are worth betting on.

Onto our pick to win the Grand Prix on Sunday, and as Max Verstappen is no value at -450, why not go with the in-form McLaren cars again? Any McLaren to win the race is +550, and we say that is a good pick.
