- What: 2023 The Match
- When: June 29th
- Where: Wynn Golf Club, Las Vegas
The 2023 edition of The Match will take place on June 29th in Las Vegas, with no shortage of star power stepping foot on the course. On one side, it's Super Bowl champions Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs going against 2022 NBA champs Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors. The duos will go at it at Wynn Golf Club. This tournament is just 12 holes. Last year, it was all golf pros as Justin Thomas and Jordan Speith beat Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods at the Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida. Read on for 2023 The Match picks.

2023 The Match Odds
Given Curry's impressive golf resume, his team is a heavy favorite at -260 odds to win the eighth edition. Kelce/Mahomes come back at +200. This is actually the first time a pair of basketball players have competed in The Match. Steph previously took part in 2020 with NFL legend Peyton Manning, though.
Preview
Curry will be joined by his Splash Brothers running mate, but let's be honest, he's the star of the show here. The greatest shooter to ever live can really swing it on the course. He's an avid golfer in the offseason and has actually competed in the American Century Championship for three straight years. So have Mahomes and Kelce.
However, Steph was the best of the three. While he was 16th last year, he previously finished in ninth in 2021 and fourth in 2020. Although Klay's experience on the greens isn't nearly as decorated as his Dubs teammate, Curry could very well carry the load here, just like he's done many times before on the hardwood.
It's no secret that NFL players love to golf in their free time. I mean, it's relaxing, can be competitive, and just downright fun. Mahomes was in the American Century Championship tournament as well in recent years, but he didn't do nearly as well as Curry.
The Chiefs signal-caller failed to finish better than 38th place. As for Kelce? Well, we're looking at a 64th, 66th, and 58th-place finish. Yikes. Mahomes has been in The Match before, participating last summer with fellow quarterback Josh Allen as they went toe to toe with legends Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady at this exact same course. The latter came out victorious, though.
As for the format of the tourney, it's yet to be determined.
2023 The Match Picks
In the seven tournaments before this, the betting favorite has won four of seven times. That being said, I simply don't see any way Curry and Thompson lose this. Steph is very, very good at golf and even has a playable character on PGA TOUR 2K23. He's been good at the sport since his college days and his recent performances at the ACC back it up. Take the favorite to win on Thursday, June 29th.
