  • Time:  2:00 pm ET
  • Place:  O2 Arena - Prague, Czech Republic

Now, the nice part of the games is this. One can bet now or bet right up until early Friday. That is correct. Thankfully the betting community has come through with early numbers on this exciting game as the NHL goes back overseas. This is the first time they have done so since 2019.

Welcome Back To NHL Odds And Numbers

So, it had been too long but welcomed back to NHL Odds and numbers. Early in the season, there are going to be some crazy results. The key will be patience. This is why betting cautiously with the NHL Global Series Bets is understandable. For the NHL, the last time there was an international NHL game that counted in the standings was in 2019. That feels like a lifetime ago.

It is prudent to keep an eye on the NHL odds. All it takes is a piece of news or an unexpected injury to shift some numbers around. That can be a benefit to the bettor. Check out these NHL Hockey Betting Odds And Tips.

Also, look over our excellent online sportsbook reviews. The objective is to find the best online NHL betting sites and some promotional bonuses. After all, anything that keeps the bankroll going is good.

Below is our table of numbers for the opening game this 2022-23 NHL season.

Let's begin with a quick look at Nashville and San Jose.

2022 NHL Global Series Bets - Hello, Nashville

For the 2022 NHL Global Series Bets, hello, Nashville! Last year was an adventurous season for the Nashville Predators. It was an up-and-down ride where Nashville finished 45-30-7. That 97-point total got Nashville into the playoffs despite finishing fifth in the Central Division. The Predators did not win a game in the playoffs, however. The Colorado Avalanche swept them in the first round. This was because of an injury to the goaltender, Juuse Saros.

The impact of goaltender Juuse Saros can not be discounted. This team proved they could get into the playoffs but needed Saros to backstop them. On the bright side, the Predators may have been outscored 12-6 during those games in Nashville. However, they showed some offensive grit, which could signify better things for 2022-23.

Nashville Expects More This Season

Last season, some doubted the Nashville Predators could even make the playoffs. With the way the team started, who could blame them? A critical 16-game stretch from early March into April saw the Predators win 11 of 16 games. That was enough momentum to squeak into the playoffs ahead of the Vegas Golden Knights.

The problem is that Nashville has been eliminated four straight times in the opening round of the playoffs. Making the second season is nice, but Nashville expects more this season. In the offseason, the Predators did not lose much of anything significant. They even added 20-goal scorer Nino Niederreiter from the Carolina Hurricanes. The fortunes of the Predators arguably rise and fall on Filip Forsberg, Roman Josi, and the aforementioned Saros.

Filip Forsberg and Matt Duchene were 40-goal scorers for Nashville last season and could be again this season. Add in Roman Josi, one of the best defensemen in the NHL (2020 Norris Trophy winner). Josi totaled 96 points in 2021-22 and provided a huge offensive push from the back end. The Predators featured ten players who scored ten or more goals. Their balance was overlooked because it was streaky.

Finding consistency will be vital to the fortunes of Nashville this season. Again, the pieces are there, which should be good enough to defeat San Jose on Friday afternoon.

San Jose Enters With Lesser Expectations

The NHL Global Series welcomes San Jose as they enter the 2022-23 campaign with lesser expectations. The Sharks have a new GM in Mike Grier and a new head coach in David Quinn. Last year, Bob Boughner led the Sharks to a respectable 32-37-13 mark, but the writing was on the wall. San Jose wanted to rebuild, and changes were made.

Arguably, the problem with the Sharks is that they are still loaded with many veterans tying up cap space. Brent Burns was traded to Carolina in the offseason, but San Jose is still right against the salary cap. They are still a few players over the 23-man roster limit. That will be rectified before opening the season.

San Jose finished sixth in the Pacific Division last season while ranking 30th in scoring with 214 goals. The offense could again be a problem this season. Kaapo Kakkonen and James Reimer will have their work cut out for them. Team defense became an issue last year as they yielded 264 goals. Older defensemen like Erik Karlsson and Marc-Edouard Vlasic are not getting any faster. Players like Tomas Hertl and Timo Meier can only help a team so much.

Figure out that Kakkonen may start on Friday, making San Jose a more significant underdog.

NHL Global Series Bets - What About Saturday?

Finally, what about Saturday? Nashville may start Kevin Lankinen in net, which could boost San Jose. The Sharks may be inclined to play James Reimer, then. Watch for this scenario. Nashville may not sweep San Jose in the NHL Global Series Bets if it plays out. The +148 number from BetOnline is not as valuable as the +165 on Friday, but plus-money is plus-money.
